Richard L. Petersen
Richard Petersen is a partner of Howard, Lewis & Petersen. Rich was recently honored in Utah Business Magazine as one of 2012 Utah Legal Elite in the area of civil litigation.
Richard received a B.A. in International Studies from Brigham Young University, 1999, and his J.D. from Creighton University School of Law, Omaha, Nebraska, 2002. In 2003, Richard augmented his law studies with an L.L.M. in Tax from the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle, Washington.
In 2003, Richard was admitted to the Utah State Bar, U.S. Tax Court, and U.S. District Court, District of Utah.
Richard’s practice is concentrated in the areas of tax law, estate planning, business law, contracts, real estate law, and probate. Richard’s added studies in tax have made him one of the premier tax attorneys in Utah Valley. As a tax attorney, Richard has been named as one of “Utah Legal Elite” by Utah Business Magazine. He has also been included in the Mountain States Super Lawyers Magazine for 2010. Richard is frequently asked to speak to community groups on topics such as trusts, estate and tax planning, and asset protection.
Richard is a member of various organizations including the Central Utah Bar Association, United Way Planned Giving Committee and the Utah Valley Estate Planning Council.
Richard is married with five children.
